Bretts is a Warehousing and Distribution specialist located just east of Peterborough in North Cambridgeshire. We are ideally situated for the storage and onward transportation of imported goods arriving via the East Coast and Outer London ports as well as manufactured goods from across East Anglia and the East Midlands.

Utilising our large fleet of modern vehicles and our premium warehousing facilities we aim to provide consistently high levels of service to our customers to enable them to grow with us.

Our ongoing investment in IT together with the pursuit of procedural excellence ensure that we are able to provide you with a route into all retail, food service and manufacturing delivery points throughout the UK.

Our History

The Bretts family is now in its fifth generation of trading within 1 mile of the current site. James Wilsworth Brett moved from Norwich to Thorney Toll in the 1880's where he set up his carpentry and wheelwright business.

James had 3 sons. When the eldest, Charles Brett, moved out of the family home, he set up various enterprises including agricultural contracting, tending a small holding and repairing and dealing in motor vehicles. One of his many activities was to collect stone with a horse and cart from the old Guyhirn rail station, to be used to construct the A47 - this paid a shilling per load!

Charles had 4 children Stanley, Florence, Ray and Roy and between them, from1933, they were responsible for growing and developing the transport business - becoming a registered company in 1939. By supporting the local East Anglian agricultural sector and the then thriving canning industries, the enterprise continued to grow.

In 1993 the company was passed to Ray's son Simon, who is the current MD. Whilst staying true to our area of expertise - food distribution - Bretts Transport has continued to expand, providing services to merchants, manufacturers and importers with revenue increasing fifteen fold under Simon's tenure. At the same time, in order to keep pace, the Bretts Storage business has continued to expand with warehousing space capacity increasing from 3,000 to the 30,000 pallets that we have today.

Bretts is now a nationally recognised name specialising in ambient deliveries to the retail, food service and food manufacturing sectors, typically delivering in excess of 12,000 pallets of food and food grade packaging per week.

Two of Simon's sons have recently started their careers in the businesses - the intention is that Bretts will remain a family business for many years to come!
