90 Years Anniversary Message from Simon Brett

Bretts Transport 90 Years Anniversary

With the arrival of 2023, I feel that it’s both worthwhile and appropriate to reflect on the fact that Bretts have now been in business for 90 years. I would like to think that the founders of the company, back in 1933, would be very proud to see what has been achieved during the 90 years of trading from our Guyhirn site.

From our humble beginnings, we have evolved to become a nationally recognised logistics provider with a hard earned and deserved reputation for providing a high quality, reliable service. Growth over the last 25 years in particular has been significant, with our transport fleet expanding from 12 vehicles in 1998 to the 90 vehicles that we have today. Our warehouse capacity has also grown substantially with additional investment in 2007, 2012 and 2019 bringing us to the point where we are now able to store up to 30,000 pallets of customers’ stock on site.

We firmly believe that it is vitally important that we continue to plan ahead as we are well aware that the commercial and economic conditions in which we operate makes that a necessity. Amongst our priorities are a recognition that we must continue to make further investment in systems and automation. This is imperative as we must ensure that we continue to provide the level of service that our customers expect, evidenced and supported by holding the requisite levels of recognised accreditation. We also acknowledge the importance of our role in protecting the environment and, by utilising renewable energy, our aim is to make the Guyhirn site carbon neutral in the near future. Our staff are at the core of everything that we do and we intend to continue to invest in their development in order that we maintain a highly skilled workforce that reflects the needs of the business. I am also pleased to say that the next generation of the Brett family are now actively involved in the business and, whilst it is still early days for them, their involvement gives me the confidence that Bretts will remain in family ownership for many years to come.

My sincere thanks and gratitude goes out to all of the staff, suppliers and customers, both past and present, who have done so much to support us over the years. I am proud of what we have accomplished so far and look forward with great anticipation and confidence to what I believe we can all achieve in the future.
